This course aim to explore issues surrounding data protection and intellectual property. The students will examine the development of intellectual property law and data protection law and digital law as distinct areas of legal practice in digital media. The course will also and introduce students to concepts and terms used in digital laws and Data Protection Law and the digital law such as the notions of "big data", " Internet of Things" ‘informed consent’, the obligations of data controllers".
Intended Learning Outcomes:
Throughout this course students should acquire the following competencies
1.1 Examine the development of data protection law as a distinct area of legal practice in digital media.
1.2 Identify the development of intellectual property and digital law in practices related to media work.
1.3 Determine all concepts related to Data protection, intellectual property, and digital law.
1.4 Explore the terms of Use for Web Sites and Online Applications.
1.5 Examine some advanced copyright topics regarding the application of copyright law to the Internet and to software products, as well as international aspects of software law.
