Digital Journalism

This course aims to explore the new digital journalistic environment in its comprehensive sense and reviews the history accompanying the transformation from traditional journalism in all its aspects from operations such as collecting, editing, and processing news until publishing it on all digital platforms. The course reviews all concepts related to digital journalism and all its human and material components, without ignoring the ethical dimension associated with news production in this unique environment.

Intended Learning Outcomes: 

Throughout this course students should acquire the following competencies:

  1. Identifying the historical contextual development accompanying the emergence of journalism until it reached the digital stage
  2. Explore the conceptual and practical understanding of digital journalism.
  3. Reviewing all concepts related to digital journalism and all its human and material components.
  4. Defining the components of digital newsrooms compared to traditional news processing patterns
  5. Describes the political, legal, and legislative variables associated with digital journalism
  6.  Discusses some of the ethical problems facing digital journalism practices.

Course Description
