This course deals mainly with screenwriting format, craft, and techniques, with an emphasis on the
fundamentals of storytelling. Students will learn about film screenplay structure, analyze dramatic
strategies in film, create characters, analyze films, learn about and apply correct script form, and
creatively engage in the various stages of original scriptwriting.
Intended Learning Outcomes:
By the end of the course, the students should be able to :
1.1 Recognize various genres of films and their scriptwriters.
1.2 Describe the various structures and techniques of screenwriting.
1.3 Distinguish feature-length screenplays according to plots and structures.
1.4 Outline and identify different character types.
1.5 Recognize the importance of visuals and description
1.6 Discuss the content and the context of various screenplays.
1.7 Rewrite dialogues using their creative thinking skills
1.8 Identify the different formats of Egyptian TV Series.
1.9 Recognize the different formats of screenplays, especially the Egyptian and the American
films.
