Wetskills-Egypt 2024

Summary:
Wetskills–Egypt 2024 was a major international educational programme bringing together young professionals and students from Egypt, the MENA region, and the Netherlands to co-create innovative water-management and climate-adaptation solutions. The two-week event combined research, field visits, teamwork, and pitching sessions to address real-world cases such as irrigation efficiency, flash-flood management, and sustainable agriculture in arid regions.

Role of AASTMT:

AASTMT served as the local host institution, providing facilities in Alexandria and Cairo for all technical workshops, case development sessions, and innovation training. AASTMT faculty (notably Dr. Hany Ayad, Vice Dean) participated on the scientific jury, led sessions on climate resilience, water governance, and youth empowerment, and facilitated partnerships with Egyptian research centres. Through this involvement, AASTMT strengthened its leadership in climate-education outreach, sustainable water-land management, and capacity building for climate-resilient development in alignment with SDG 13 – Climate Action and SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation.
